Explanation of Different Services

The term "dialer" can mean many things and is used loosely within the industry itself.

Here is a quick summary of two outbound dialer services which integrate your computer and telephone to maximize your project results:

Autodialer (also called voice broadcasting, phone or voice blasting, or robo-dialing):

This has limited human involvement and is almost completely automated. It enables you to do several things including:

  1. Send pre-recorded messages to live contacts and/or the contacts' answering machines. This is the most popular application.
  2. Use a pre-recorded message to ask contacts to connect to a live operator by pressing #1.
  3. Collect data by surveying contacts and asking them to press keys in response to pre-recorded questions.

Advantages: The most inexpensive and fastest way to reach your contacts. Requires little or no human involvement.

Virtual Instant Daytime Dialer (very similar to what is referred to as "predictive dialer"):

This involves the extensive use of live agents who use outbound calling to talk or leave pre-recorded messages to contacts. It enables you to:

  1. Manage your call list and place calls over fiber optic lines, using as web interface.
  2. Have agents talk directly to contacts, or if the contacts are not available, leave pre-recorded messages on answering machines.
  3. Keep notes and history on each contact, and allows managers to review agent productivity.
  4. Includes the option of integrating a personal agent greeting with a recorded message.

Advantages: Increases the productivity of your outbound call agents and saves you the cost of buying any hardware, software, or phone lines. Provides unlimited calls in the U.S. and Canada for a flat low monthly rate. Projects can be ramped up or down immediately and agents can call from any location in the world. The advantage over what is known as "predictive dialing" is that this system waits for a contact to answer, versus a predictive dialer which forces the contact to wait for the agent to pick up the phone and start talking. Moreover, it allows an agent to establish a personal relationship with the contact, versus a predictive dialer which can direct a call to a random agent.
